Dads' Corner
Fathers have many opportunities to navigate what I call the “social health matrix.” This includes dads' efforts to monitor their children's health, fitness, and safety. The Dads’ Corner offers materials to help fathers from various backgrounds do this mindfully and effectively. Resources focus on the website’s two key messages:
(1) how dads deal with their own health and fitness can leave a lasting imprint on their children’s
short- and long-term well-being, and
(2) how fathers relate to their children’s health, fitness, and safety needs often affects children’s quality
of life.
The Dads’ Corner is the website’s most critical resource for building healthier dads and kids—together and forever. I direct fathers to specialized resources that pertain to issues such as:
(1) coping with one's own health conditions and fitness challenges
(2) nurturing kids with disabilities
(3) raising kids in a society that treats kids/adults differently based on whether they are boys/men or
girls/women
(4) supporting LGBT kids in a society where stigmas about lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender
people still exist
(5) raising healthy kids on a limited budget
(6) understanding alternative diets and their connection to kids' health.
