Mom's Corner
Most mothers are very involved with their children. In fact, individuals are taught that a norm in society is for mothers to be the "backbone" of the household. Although it is important for mothers to be actively involved in their children's lives, it is important for mothers to encourage fathers to also play a major role in their children's upbringing.
When a mother allows a reciprocal relationship to blossom between a father and his children, all three parties-mom, father, and children-will benefit. In turn, the mother will have a supportive partner and the children will be exposed to two parents who love and care for them.
The Mom's Corner is the section of the website that not only focuses on the relationships that moms build with their children but also on the relationships that moms build with their partners, particularly their husbands. My goal with Mom's Corner is to encourage couples to achieve harmonious coparenting. Specifically, I aim to encourage mothers-the more common main caregiver of the family-to find ways to help fathers to become more involved in their children's lives. For this reason, I direct mothers to resources that pertain to issues such as:
(1) Showing mothers and fathers how to have a positive influence over their children's physical health and
nutrition
(2) Encouraging fathers to be active in their children's lives
(3) Finding methods to coparent effectively
(4) Preventing "maternal gatekeeping" whereby mother limit fathers time and opportunities with their children
(5) Helping mothers become a role-model to their children
(6) Accommodating working moms
